5 Fast and Healthy Breakfast Ideas for Busy Mornings

Busy mornings, healthy and filling breakfasts? They can go hand in hand! These 5 easy and healthy breakfast ideas will help you feel full and ready to take on the day. You can whip them up quickly and not feel like you’re sacrificing you or your family’s nutritional needs. Feel free to add to or mix up these ideas however you’d like.

As a side note, we don’t typically consume a lot of veggies in the morning. In fact, there is only one savory item on this list! I think it’s just a taste preference thing, so those are usually thrown into our other meals throughout the day. Eating vegetables is super important to me, so I will make sure we get our needed daily amounts!

*I’ve broken down each of these breakfast ideas into a simple method (not necessarily ingredient amounts), which will usually serve one person. Double or triple or quadruple the size for your preference or family size.*

Let’s get to this yummy list:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Oatmeal

  • Our method:
    • Microwave oats and water in a bowl (about 1 minute). Then drizzle in some milk to cool it down, a heaping spoonful of peanut butter, and a scoop of chocolate protein powder (HERE is my absolute favorite. It has lots of good ingredients and will for sure not break the bank. Also, it’s the same price on Amazon as it is at the store! Win!). Mix it all up and you’re good to go! Add any toppings, like a cut up banana or some ground flax seed, if you’d like to add a little more to it.

Peanut Butter Banana Berry Burrito (say that 5 times fast)

  • Our method:
    • Spread peanut butter (or any nut butter) on a tortilla, then fill with cut up banana, strawberries, and/or any other of your favorite berries. Sprinkle with granola (see recipe below) and dark chocolate chips to add some crunch!

Turkey, Egg, and Spinach Sandwich

  • Our method:
    • On a whole grain English muffin, layer cooked egg, a piece of turkey (I brown mine a little on a pan with my egg), a little spinach, and some hot sauce or salsa. Done!
    • Note: This is a good one to have prepped the ingredients beforehand. You can also switch out the meat: bacon, sausage, ham, etc.

Homemade Granola Cereal

  • Our method: (Makes about 4-6 servings)
    • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix 3 cups whole rolled oats, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp nutmeg, and ¼ tsp salt. Then add 1/3 cup honey, 1/3 cup melted coconut oil, and 1 tsp vanilla. Mix thoroughly, spread evenly on lightly sprayed baking sheet, and bake for 15 minutes. Mix it around on the pan and bake for about 5-10 more minutes. Once out of the oven, stir it around and let it cool on the sheet, stirring it every few minutes until crunchy. Sprinkle in raisins and sliced almonds. Store in an airtight container and eat like cereal on those busy mornings!

Peanut Butter Banana Flax Toast

  • Our method:
    • Toast your bread. Then spread your favorite nut butter on it. Sprinkle the nut butter with ground flax seed and a little cinnamon. Cover with a sliced banana. (You can do the banana or the flax & cinnamon first, but if you cover the flax with the banana your kids will never know it’s there!)
